Community Cats
Community cats are generally feral, live in "colonies" and are not suitable for inside, pet oriented, homes. These cats are trapped in humane, live traps, taken to the veterinarian the same day, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, ear tipped, and released back to the area they came from within 24-48 hours.
It is important that community cats are released back into the area they came from to maintain the "colony". Releasing them in a new area could be a death sentence, so we discourage this.
What we do:
We personally utilize the services of P.E.T.S. Clinic to help the cats within the 79119 area code, as it is our home base. We currently do not have the means to personally implement, fund, or facilitate this in other areas of town.
However, we encourage you to utilize their services as well if you have the means, and help keep cats within your local area from populating.

Why it matters:
Reducing stray cat populations is imperative for our city. We have a severe overpopulation problem, leaving more cats in need than there are homes to place them.
Stray cats who remain unvaccinated and intact, can spread disease, and genetic mutations, as well as leave kittens in dire situations in need of human intervention.
Community cats help keep rodent populations down, which also helps stop the spread of disease between people & pets.
