Our Commitment to Cats
Our mission at After Artemis is to foster, adopt, educate and collaborate with those in our community to ensure cats can have the best possible outcomes.
We will give each cat in our care the 5 Freedoms of Animal Welfare
-
1. Freedom from Hunger and Thirst: Ready access to fresh water and a diet that maintains full health and vigor.
-
2. Freedom from Discomfort: Providing an appropriate environment, including shelter and a comfortable resting area.
-
3. Freedom from Pain, Injury, or Disease: Prevention or rapid diagnosis and treatment
-
4. Freedom to Express Normal Behavior: Providing sufficient space, proper facilities, and the company of the animal's own kind.
-
5. Freedom from Fear and Distress: Ensuring conditions and treatment that avoid mental suffering.
We know there are worse things in this world than euthanasia. If an animal is suffering we will always keep its best interests at heart, and do what is right, even if that means humanly letting an animal go, with us by their side.
We are a foster based rescue.
This means we can only take in animals in-need, if we have an available space in a foster home.
We will not take a cat if we do not have space, or monetary funds to cover the cat's initial care BEFORE they enter into our care. Doing so would be irresponsible, and a disservice to the cat in-need.
We have never, and will never have an outstanding balance with a veterinarian's office.
